Applications for 2014-2015 school year scholarships and Rural Electric Youth Tour are now available at Mid-South Synergy’s offices in Navasota, Huntsville and Montgomery or online at www.midsouthsynergy.com. The Mid-South Synergy scholarship program is established to encourage and assist in the educational pursuit of Mid-South Synergy member’s seniors. Texas State Law HB 3202, passed in September 1997, permits nonprofit electric cooperatives to retain unclaimed capitol credit allocations for scholarships.
Who is Eligible?
The parent or legal guardian of the student must be a Mid-South Synergy member or current Mid-South Synergy employee. The student must be living with the parent or legal guardian, whose permanent residence is in the Mid-South Synergy service territory. The student must be a 2015 graduating senior entering a college, university, trade or technical school.
What must I submit?
The qualifying student must submit a completed application form and the student’s official high school transcript, signed by a school official, certified with the school seal and converted to a 4.0 scale. The transcript must also show the student’s SAT/ACT scores.
Along with all necessary paperwork stated above, a brief statement by the school counselor regarding applicant or three letters of recommendation from school officials or teachers is required, along with an essay detailing why the student feels he or she should receive the Mid-South Synergy scholarship. Applicants should also submit a recent school picture to be used for publication in local news media, if selected.
Applications must be received at the Navasota office of Mid-South Synergy by 5:00pm, April 3, 2015
